Choose the Right Size
Choose a beeswax wrap size that will work best for the food you want to store or cover. There are many sizes of wraps: little ones to cover something small like a half-cut lemon, or large ones to wrap a loaf of bread or cover a dish.
Warm the Wrap
Warming up beeswax wraps makes them flexible. Hold the wrap between your hands for a few seconds to help with the flexibility.
Cover the Food or Dish
If you are covering up a cut-up piece of food (i.e. a cut fruit, vegetable, or cheese), put the wrap directly over the food. Then gently press and mold the wrap around the food using the warmth of your hands. The wrap will stick to itself, creating a seal.
For a container, bowl, or dish just place the wrap over it. Mold it around the edges to form a tight seal.
Store the Food or Dish
Once you seal your food or dish, store the wrapped food in the refrigerator or at room temperature, depending on the type of food.
Cleaning Beeswax Wraps
You'll want to clean the wraps with cool water and a mild dish soap. Avoid hot water, as it can melt the beeswax. Let them air dry completely before you store them. Put the wraps in a cool, dry place when you store them. You can fold them and keep them in a drawer or cupboard.
Important Tips
Don't use beeswax wraps in the microwave or oven, because the heat will melt the wax.
Don't use the wraps for wrapping raw meat or fish so you prevent contamination.
If the wraps lose their stickiness you can try to put them between two pieces of parchment paper and gently iron to add wax back to the wraps.
