Picture yourself strolling along cobblestone streets in a charming, little European village and enjoying the peace and quiet without having to squeeze past large crowds of people. Or relaxing on a beautiful beach with lots of room to spread out and take in the sounds of the waves in the background. These are just a few advantages off travelling during off-season.
Save Money
During the off-season you can usually expect significant discounts on flights and lower rates for hotels and vacation rentals. Travel agencies have off-season promotions including discounts on tours and activities.
Fewer Crowds
There should be less crowded tourist attractions and landmarks which should give you a more enjoyable and relaxed time sightseeing. It should also be easier to find reservations and availability for popular restaurants and attractions, in addition to booking tours and excursions.
Local Experiences
Depending on the time of year, you may have more opportunities to engage with locals (instead of them travelling like everyone else for the summer and winter breaks they are back at home). You can also check out off-season festivals and events like winter sports or harvest festivals.
Better Weather Conditions
A bonus to off-season travel is better weather. I've been to Disney World in June, September and January and I the weather in January was a winner. It was not too cold, not too hot and oppressive, like it was in the summer and early fall. The crowds were also a lot smaller because it was off-season, so we got to experience more rides.
